푸짐했던 축제가 아쉬운 마지막으로 향하고 있다. 폐막을 이틀 앞둔 지난 5월7일 영화제쪽의 집계에 의하면, 제9회 전주국제영화제는 예년보다 좋은 점수를 받은 것으로 밝혀졌다. 영화제 7일차인 7일까지 이뤄진 216번의 상영 중 매진된 것은 총 140회. 지난해는 전체 상영횟수 271회 중 109회가 매진된 바 있다. 좌석 점유율은 7일간 평균이 약 84%로 8일차까지 집계한 지난해 좌석 점유율 평균 80%에 비해 높아졌음을 알 수 있다. 전북대 문화관을 2회 매진시키는 저력을 보여준 <키사라기>, 상영과 무대인사 내내 엄청난 호응을 받았던 <우린 액션배우다> 등이 올해의 화제작이며, 가장 큰 인기를 끌었던 특별전의 주인공은 벨라 타르였다는 것이 영화제 쪽의 전언. 435분이라는 무시무시한 러닝타임을 자랑하는 <사탄 탱고>까지 거의 매진시킬 정도의 관객 호응에 감동한 벨라 타르 감독은 예정에 없던 GV까지 자청하고 나서 분위기를 한층 고조시켰던 것으로 알려졌다.

The 9-day festival is coming to an end. According to the festival office, JIFF this year was more successful than previous years. Until May 7, two days before it ends, 140 out of 216 screenings have been sold out. Last year, it was 109 out of 271. The number of sold-out screenings was increased to 84% from 80%. The festival office said, the most-talked-about films were "Kisaragi," whose two screenings were all sold-out, and "Action Boys," for which the audience showed an explosive response throughout the screening. However, it was Bela Tarr, featured in retrospective, who was the most popular. Even his film "Satantango" was almost sold-out despite its challenging 435-minute running time. The impressed director responded by voluntarily asking for more Qamp;A sessions after screening.
